New NSF grant to study CPG lipids!

The lab was awarded a new NSF grant to study the biochemistry of ceramide diphosphoglycerate (CPG2) synthesis! We will be working on this project with a fantastic team of collaborators including Mike Airola (Stony Brook), Enver Izgu (Rutgers NB), and Ziqiang Guan (Duke).

Tanisha’s paper on CPG2 synthesis is accepted at JBC!

Tanisha’s paper, which characterizes CpgD, shows that this enzyme uses CTP and phosphoglycerate to produce CDP-glycerate. We hypothesize that this molecule is a key substrate for CPG2 synthesis. Her papers has been accepted at JBC and will hopefully be online in the next few weeks.

Back to back trips to New Brunswick

The lab traveled to New Brunswick this past week for the Rutgers Microbiology Symposium and the Theobald Smith Society spring meeting. Josh’s abstract was chosen for a talk and Tanisha’s poster won 3rd place!!
